About Me

Me Jan 2014 3x3.5

André Roy

I have been a faculty member in the School of Academic and Liberal Studies at Niagara College Canada since 1998. I became coordinator of Computer Applications and Learning Technologies in 2005.

My current role as Manager, Program Development and Learning Technologies will soon find me at our new campus in Taif, Saudi Arabia where we are launching numerous programs. A part of the Kingdom’s new Colleges of Excellence initiative, we will be concentrating on business, tourism, hospitality and culinary programs.

Since there is a tiny bit of free time left over…I am also in the process of taking a Masters in Learning and Technology at Royal Roads University. The campus is located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, however (lucky for me) the program is offered 100% on line.

I have worked with our Centre for Academic Excellence as a curriculum design and program mapping consultant. I sat on the Transform NC Steering Committee whose purpose is to help the college strengthen what they are doing well, focus on where to invest, and reinvent or improve areas facing challenges. Along with my colleague Beverly Davies, I was the co-winner of the 2012 Sandra Hodder Innovative Teaching with Technology Award. I am a key resource person for those who are looking for new ways to engage students by using today’s technology.

I have presented at many conferences including the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD) in Seattle, the Council of Ontario Universities in Toronto and the Educational Developers Caucus in Kitchener. I am very proud of my relationship with and my work for Pearson Education. My most recent presentations for them were Pearson course redesign conferences in Phoenix and San Diego as well as the CITE conference in Fort Worth.
